All specialist equipment is provided by KMC, including boots, waterproofs, fleece sweater, rucksack and extra hat and gloves. Visitors may bring their own equipment if they have any, particularly strong boots, as this might ensure a better fit than borrowed ones. Also please note that we provide all bed linen.

Visitors to KMC are advised to bring with them the following items:

  • Several pairs of warm comfortable trousers eg tracksuit trousers (not jeans for activities)
  • Several sweaters (fleece or wool is better than cotton)
  • Several T shirts, shirts or thermal tops
  • Several sets of underwear (girls may find a sports bra more comfortable)
  • Several pairs of thick woollen or loop-stitch socks
  • Warm fleece or wool hat
  • Gloves or mittens
  • Torch
  • Water bottle plus a flask if you like a hot drink during the day
  • Slippers or sandals for indoors - in addition to shoes
  • Trainers or similar
  • Pyjamas / nightwear
  • Towel
  • Personal toiletries (soap, toothbrush etc)
  • No aerosol sprays, hair dryers or straighteners
  • Logbook, pen and pencil
  • Clothes for indoor wear and travel (jeans are fine for this)
  • 2 large plastic bags for wet clothes (dustbin liners are ideal)
  • Swimwear
  • Old trainers or similar for water activities - in addition to trainers/shoes for general wear
  • Extra towel - large enough to use as a cover-up when changing outdoors
  •

In summer, add the following:

  • Sun hat
  • Sun cream
  • Sun glasses
  • insect repellent - lots of midges in the grounds!
  • You may wish to bring shorts

Ideally all personal belongings should be carried in one container (e.g. case, holdall or rucksack)
As each part of the accommodation (except the Eric Watts Room) is equipped with a coin-operated payphone we would prefer it that mobile phones are not brought to the Centre.
Spending money is best brought as coins rather than notes.
